Transformers Prime

Hi mundane creatures - I've finally managed to get out of bed and share my daily dose of unimportant knowledge! Hooray Hooray

 

Today I'll talk about the most important thing in my life - and my future (yes, I can see into the future) - Robots, all of em 'robots!

 

More specified - the robots in the (not so new anymore) transformers prime series.

People often associate transformers with the transformers films, which are still pretty populare (one of the reasons is probably Megan Fox, who, with her feminine body pulled many male species at the cinema), but they must open their (robot) horizons - because transformers universe has so much more to offer.

Compared to the previous transformer series: G1 and Transformers Animated - the Transformers Prime series has really taken a step further animation wise. Never have I seen such detailed images, not to talk about the unique designs of the various robots ... It's like candy for the eyes! It is frankly a pleasure to watch - and it gives me a greater desire to be an animator!

 

 The story itself is perhaps not remarkably new: the Decepticons are trying to take over earth while the always courageous Autobots do their best to prevent it. But despite that the actual is series very appealing - each episode offers exciting plots and super cool fight scenes that makes you hang right on the edge of the chair.

 

Simultaneously, the various characters are just so brilliant - Their expressions, movements and feelings are expressed so beautifully on each of them, it's hard to choose a favorite. Therefore, it is so easy to be captivated by the series - when the characters are so lovable.

Because there are so many unique characters, it is also easy to identify yourself with at least one of them, which makes the experience that much richer. They may be made ​​of metal - but they have just as many feelings and dreams as people.

If you suddenly find yourself sitting alone in your room with nothing to do - you could always watch an episode of transformers prime, I promise you - you won't be dissapointed (if you are, you should be ashamed)

 

Zombie Boy

I said in my introduction that I would talk about different subjects, and as I can see I still haven't wrote anything about tattoo's so this thursday is (if you haven't already guessed) going to be about tattoos!

Meet my idol and future husband - Zombie boy.  

 

Rick Genest (aka ''Zombie boy'') is a Canadian artist and fashion model born in Lasalle, Montreal. As you can see the majority of his body is covered with skeletal tattoos - hence the nickname ''Zombie Boy''.

 

The tattoo adventure startet when Genest, at the age of 19, visited Montreal tattoo artist Frank Lewis. Frank Lewis was responsible for the tattoo design and application of it onto body - the tattoo proces has taken over six years and cost several thousand dollars. He explains his body work to be his "anarchistic transitive pictograph verbalization to the world''.

 

He began to work at freakshows and sideshows across Canada as the living skeleton he had become. Soon the media noticed him - and his fame began to grow little be little.  

 

Suddenly he featured in ''Bizarre'' magasin and in the new Thierry Mugler Autumn/Winter mens collection, got his own facebook page with more than 1,5 million fans, was made into a scupture by the famous artist Marc Quinn.

 

They fame continued - and in  2011, Genest was featured in Lady Gaga's video for "Born This Way", with Lady Gaga wearing makeup to replicate Genest's tattoos.

I really love Rick Genest - I think it's incredibly brave to get your whole body redone that way and at the same time incredibly beautiful. Frank Lewis has really succeeded in creating a living work of art in the form of Genest tattooed body - I adore it.

 

There's just something people who dares to differ from society, its norms and values ​​- and I find myself constantly being drawn to it.

Art in Madrid

Hola Amigos !!

 

Today Im going to show you some pictures from my trip to lovely Madrid where I visited the famous Prada-museum.

I really love simple designs, so I really enjoyed the visit to prada - it fell right into my taste.

Clean lines, angular edges and calm colors - I just love how something so simple can still be able to stand out.  

 

 

 

 Art doesnt always have to be provocative or neccesarily stand out from the crowd. It can be simple - and still entertain.

 

If your ever going to Madrid - be sure to check out the art museums, they have some wonderful things there.

The Reward

Hello lovely people, I hope the past days have treated you well - personally I have had a lot of stress because of an assigment overload in high school, luckily there is a cure for stress (or just temporary) and that is - ANIMATIONS FILMS!

In the last week I came across an awesome animated film called'' the reward.'' The animation are made ​​by the two danes Mikkel Mainz and Kenneth ladekjær as their graduation project at the animation school in Viborg. They both dream of Reward becoming an animated series - and work hard to achieve that goal together with a little crew.

 

 

If there is something I love about animation is it when you can feel the creatores ethusiame and big dreams shine through the animation - this is quite evident in'' The Reward'' where you can see, and at the same time feel how much work that has been put into both the characters and the universe - and its monsters.

 

 

 

The film is about two guys, Wilheim og Vito, whose paths crosses in a small town. At some point a hero comes riding on a horse and dropes af treasure map. Both Wilheaim and Vito wants the treasure map, which lead to a fight and a map torn in half. With their piece of the map they are now forced to Work together which doesn't pleases Wilheim.

Through their journey toward the treasure they experience both ups and downs, which is to strengthen their friendship that has slowly taken shape - and ends with an almost brother-like relationship

The journey lasts many years and you can see how both men age - but age doens't affect them in a negative way on the contrary - old age in the film is rather shown as a measure of masculinity and epicness that both of them as young boys were fascinated by.

 

 

One of my favorite parts of the film is when Wilheim and Vito finally reach the treasures location - and find that the treasure is far from what they expected. However both men come to realize that the treasure weren't that great of importance but rather the journey to find it. This insight shows simultaneously that both of them - besides their incredible friendship, strength, masculinity and epicness also been clarified with life and themselves - they have found the deeper meaning.

 

 

The Reward is by far one of the greatest short animation film from Denmark - and luckily many people has realised it's potential and are now supporting the crew behind it and their goal to make The Reward an animated series.

 

 Personally I really hope that The Reard gets it's own series - because I just can't get enough of the amount of epicness that film contains!

Shy like a Crocodile

Hello lovely people - I hope you liked the last post!

Today I have a wonderful little animated film called ''In Between'' that I want to show you, and at the same time talk about a topic that is very relevant in relation to the film: Shyness.

In the film we meet a young girl who is having a meeting with some kind of therapy/psychologist, where she is diagnosed with ''a crocodile'' - The crocodile symbolizes her shyness which constantly pursues her (as a crocodile).

As you follow the girl through her everyday life, you soon realize that her severe shyness actually affects her life to such an extent that she can't function probaly in society: She don't dare to pick up the phone, to present her ideas at work or to greet her cute neighboor whom she has a little crush on.

As a result to all the problems her shyness created for her, she ends up collapsing in frustration - she realized long ago that she had a problem, but she doens't know how to solve it - because how do you solve shyness?

 We get the answer to that question when the girl after her breakdown realizes that she shouldn't fight her shyness but rather embrace it (aka the crocodile) - the shyness is a part of her, so she would never be able to make it dissapear, but she can learn to accept it: she can learn to love herself (and her flaws).

At the end of the movie she cuddles her crocodile and walks out to her neighboor with two cups of coffee - she's still shy, but she has never been stronger.

Comic book - Anya's Ghost

 
 It’s finally Thursday, and if you are reading that must mean that my introduction did not scare you away completely - which is great! Because I have some goodies to present for you today!

I have chosen to talk about one of my favorite (and newest) comic book ''Anya's Ghost'' by Vera Brosgol. The book is about a girl named Anya who tries to survive her life in high school without getting too much unwanted attention, but that is hard when you are a bit of a klutz and come from Russia and therefore already standout both with looks and accent. But over the years Anya has learned the social ground rules and thereby made school attendance easier compared to her Russian childhood friend Dina who goes to the same school, and are daily bullied.

Anya’s life suddenly gets turned around when she accidentally falls into an old well. She soon discovers that she is not alone down there: The ghost of a dead girl is patiently waiting by her skeleton for someone to find her – and Anya is the lucky one. The Ghost ask Anya to help her and Anya promise but inside knows, that when she gets saved from the well she will put the whole thing behind her – but the ghost has other plans for her.

What I like about this comic, aside from the wonderful art is that it just portraits a typical teenager with all her flaws. As the reader you can really identify yourself with her - and it just makes the book so much more amiable!

She is one of those girls who are capable of so much, but think so little of themselves - In the course of the book, however, we see her grow - she begins daring to be herself, standing up for what she believes in - she is Russian, and it occurs to her that is nothing to be sorry about.

The author Vera Brosgol has really managed to make a fantastic youth comic book with a lovely message - You embrace what defines you!

T for Thursday

Greetings!

I guess you already understood the whole idea of ’’five girls, five days’’ so I’m just going to skip that part and jump right into the introduction.

 My name is Sofie, a cheerful girl of 18 years who have a tendency of day-dreaming too much. I have a big inner child which has resulted in my huge addiction to cartoons, and the talent of switching between childlike-wonder and adult insight in less than five seconds.

The most magic thing to me, is to see a character come alive though animation. To see all the effort that has been put into the character, to see it move, act, and speak. To see new worlds be created – and to see the art and concept behind the first idea, the first little sketch – it’s all a part of the magic.

As I said, I love cartoons with all my heart. Therefore, it is my dream to make my own cartoons when I get older - therefore I sincerely wish to enter the Animation School in Denmark when I get out of high school. If the dream can be realized, I find out later, but I hope – because with hard work and a big heart you can achieve almost anything (no matter how simple and childish that may sound).

In my freetime I enjoy watching tv series, reading comics and drawing. I always loved drawing since I was little. You just get caught by pencils magical powers to 'create' whatever you like. I often enjoy sitting home alone and just let the hand play alone with the pencil, letting my dreams and thoughts unfold on paper - my favorite freetime activity
