A Saturday Surprise

Surprise! Five has been made into six and Saturday is now officially a day of blogging. Exciting isn't is? I am, as the other five girls, a danish student from the same class as the others and part of the same lovely group of friends. I am 17 (very soon 18!), young, wild and free and loving life - at least when it is not raining and I don't have to do my homework.

I used to be a quiet, some times a bit lazy girl, who enjoyed lying on my bed reading a good book all day or watch television. I still like to do that whenever I have the time but a little over 8 months ago my life took a quite unexpected turn. I started down at the local rowing club in my town and suddenly I found myself turning into a weirdly aggressive sports freak - me who used to hate gym class and hard physical activity. Now I train four times a week and row competitions and hope that I sometime during spring can start training six times a week.

Now you might be sitting and thinking "What the hell... Don't you have a life?" The answer to that is no - I don't have a life... I row and I row and I row, and when I don't row I think about rowing and I always look forward to the next time I can go rowing. So as you might get an impression of I don't do much besides rowing. And I absolutely love it.

Of course there are also other things which are very important to me. My friends for example mean so so much to me and whenever I have the time I try to squeeze in a few hours with them. I also love fashion and design and I did actually for quite a few years dream about becoming a fashion designer. I weave (or well, I have been trying to finish the same piece for half a year now, so...) and I just finished a sewing course. I enjoy reading, doing yoga, watching all sorts of TV series and just doing normal teenage stuff.
So as you can hear I do have lots of other hobbies! I just don't have the time to do it because I use all my time on rowing...

As you might have guessed my main focus on this blog will be rowing, sport and how to stay healthy. I will try to explain how a sport can be so fantastic that it can make you change your life completely (I don't quite know the answer myself yet, but I will try my best to figure it out - it is still a mystery to me) and I will show you why sport is so awesome. I mean, sport is hard, it hurts, it takes all your time and basically it is just pure pain. So why do I keep coming back? I don't know, but what I do know is that I love my sport - and I will try to show you just why I love it so much.

I hope you will find it interesting and if you don't, then what the hell, I'll just keep writing anyway!

Introducing miss Friday!

It is finally Friday at Funny little features, which means it is my turn to introduce myself!
I am your miss Friday, and I will be posting on that day every week from now on! Today I will just introduce myself, so you know what my posts will contain the next many freaky Fridays!

My name is Freja, I am of course danish like the other girls, I have a sidecut, a cake-obsession, and I turn 18 tomorrow!! I have a very big passion for music - mainly new and upcomming. And I am said to have a radio addiction, because there always is a radio playing where ever I go in my home. I don't even notice it, since I have grown up with that as a background noise all my life.

I have a very wide taste, when it comes to music. I listen mostly to indie, rock, electronica, folk and some pop. My most recent concert was Mumford and Sons, and next up is Imagine Dragons, which I look very much forward to! I love alternative music with lyrics you have to think about, and beats that makes you feel. I love it when the words are sung like they are twisted and turned in a way you never heard before. I love it when the words become difficult to sing, but I also love minimalism and saying only what is necessary. And most of all, I love it when I get big time chills from an amazing song.

I also have a big passion for art and use a lot of my time on an artschool for young people. We experiment with a lot of different ways to express yourself, and we try to learn a lot of different techniques. Recently I am working on an eBook with 'narrative art', but I use most of my artistic time on photography. Style and design means a lot to me, and so does fashion. My big idols are Gabrielle Coco Chanel and Marilyn Monroe, because I love the old timeless classics, but I also the love new, wicked and current world of fashion. As you might have guessed by now, I am a big believer in (re)using old design in new combinations and improvements.  

Having all this said, I hope you have a at least superfishial idea of who I am by now. If not, I am glad to announce that I will be here every Friday, writing other nonsense for you to interpret! And that I will be looking very much forward too!

T for Thursday

Greetings!

I guess you already understood the whole idea of ’’five girls, five days’’ so I’m just going to skip that part and jump right into the introduction.

 My name is Sofie, a cheerful girl of 18 years who have a tendency of day-dreaming too much. I have a big inner child which has resulted in my huge addiction to cartoons, and the talent of switching between childlike-wonder and adult insight in less than five seconds.

The most magic thing to me, is to see a character come alive though animation. To see all the effort that has been put into the character, to see it move, act, and speak. To see new worlds be created – and to see the art and concept behind the first idea, the first little sketch – it’s all a part of the magic.

As I said, I love cartoons with all my heart. Therefore, it is my dream to make my own cartoons when I get older - therefore I sincerely wish to enter the Animation School in Denmark when I get out of high school. If the dream can be realized, I find out later, but I hope – because with hard work and a big heart you can achieve almost anything (no matter how simple and childish that may sound).

In my freetime I enjoy watching tv series, reading comics and drawing. I always loved drawing since I was little. You just get caught by pencils magical powers to 'create' whatever you like. I often enjoy sitting home alone and just let the hand play alone with the pencil, letting my dreams and thoughts unfold on paper - my favorite freetime activity

It's Wednesday Time!

Hello out there!

I gladly welcome you to Funny little features – a blog just created by four of my best friends and myself. This is my first post on the blog, where I will be introducing myself!
First of all – I will be your so-called “Wednesday”, which means I will be putting a post on the blog every Wednesday from now on! - Hopefully I’ll be able to keep it up.

When that’s been said, I would like to mention that I am Shia! I am 18 years old – the oldest in the group (not always acting like it though), and I am honored to be a classmate to the four other members in a lovely school in Denmark.

As for my Wednesday posts, I will mainly be posting stuff regarding horror and games, since those are things which usually fills up my everyday life – aside from school work and sleeping. I enjoy reading a nice and creepy horror story or watching a well-done horror movie which will give me chills and still have me paranoid days after – oh yes, that is the life!
When I am not scaring my pants off I usually play video games, mostly co-ops, but also single player, depending on whether I managed to convince my friends to play with me or not.

I will remind you that I am not as hardcore as I sound though – I still cry terribly at almost every tragic or romantic movie or series I watch. I believe that a cry-element in movies is essential, if I have to give it top rating!

Aside from games and horror, I also have a few other hobbies of mine. Music means a whole lot to me, even though I’m not always updated on what’s new and such, but I need music all the time if possible – when bored, when doing home work, when reading, you name it!
Adding to that I love to sing, and I usually sing 80 percent of my spare time – in hope of one day writing my own songs, which I at the moment doubt will happen – That’s just not my field, ha ha.

I also love reading books (not just scary ones – though that adds a bit to my inner rating system). I like the feeling you get after reading a good book, the feeling that something in your life has changed – you can’t quite put a finger on what – but you do know that you learned something about the world that day. When that has been said, it’s not easy for me to actually find the right books for me, but I’m always searching and I have Becca (Monday) to show me books from her home library, if it is needed.

Little Miss Tuesday

Hello there, little muffins and cupcakes!

As my dear Becca (call her Becca, she gets itchy when you call her Rebecca. She‘ll think you’re mad at her) told you yesterday, we are five girls with five days, one for each, and I am the lucky winner of Tuesday! I have no idea how to start this off properly so I’m just going to talk about myself.

My name is Laura and I am 17, going on 18 in just a month. I am a girl with a passion for cooking and being all around goofy, sarcastic, silly and having fun while simultaneously humiliating myself. Since I worry a lot about having a flawless complexion I spent a great amount of money on various beauty products and extensions to my skincare routine and of course I will also tell you all about those goodies!

Another great passion of mine is food. I absolutely adore food! One of my favourite activities is to curl up under my duvet with a cup of tea and a cooking channel on YouTube (I prefer Foodwishes and SortedFood). I love shopping for food; I love making food and I love eating food. And I’ll tell you all about my cooking adventures, so get ready for the culinary ride!

I also dance a lot. Constantly, actually.

Adding to that I am a girl with an intense love for books and I sing a lot for a person who can’t sing. Shia (you’ll meet her tomorrow) takes the prize for that one. I love the power words have over you while you read a magnificent book; the way you just get sucked into an entirely different world. I love how words can make you cry and to me, crying over a book is the ultimate sign of sympathy and passion because you’re crying over someone who doesn’t exist, someone you have made up in your mind.
Did I mention I read cookbooks as well? No? Oh well. It's a guilty pleasure of mine.

I was once told that I am made out of unicorns, puppies and kittens, glitter and rainbows. I can stand 100% behind that description.

Thoughts from a Monday

As I sit in my bed and type this with Mumford & Sons blasting as loud as possible in my big, red earphones I cannot help but smile. Not only because of the intense use of banjo in Mumford and Sons' music (though it certainly helps!), but also because it's spring, summer is just around the corner and ... well ... okay, the banjo.

For me spring symbolizes new beginnings and a bittersweet goodbye to hot chocolate, lots of covers and a reason to stay indoors sleeping the day away. No, actually, I'm quite happy to put the kind of dark time behind me and step into, hopefully, something brighter. Maybe this blog could be that.

Each of us will have a day of the week (minus Saturday and Sunday - but who knows? Maybe something exciting will be posted there as well from time to time!) to post our thoughts on various topics and just share what we love the most if not just a little glimpse of what's actually going on in our heads.

I'm Rebecca, 18 years old, coffee-lover and 1/5 of the 5 girls running this blog. We're all from Denmark (you know, the small country beside Sweden and above Germany), friends and classmates actually! The idea of this blog came to us in the middle of a night of procrastinating and a wanting to share our diversities with the world. Because I think that's the word that will describe us the best. Diversity. Hopefully we'll be able to show all our different sides through this blog, because God knows, there's many of them.

The words that describe me best are either very obsessive or passionate. Musicals fills up a great part of my life and even though I cannot sing or play a single instrument it's something that has a special place in my heart - thus the reason for why they are going to be my main focus on this blog. I think - actually, I know - that people zones out when I start talking about it, so why not blabber on about it on here where people are free to scroll past my entry if they do not want to read it?

Musicals are not the only thing you should know about me though... I am also the proud owner of a bookshelf consisting of over 300 books (most of them unread because I am lazy and school keeps distracting me!), I lovelovelove Glee and Darren Criss, I love me some colors, Defying Gravity from one of my favorite musicals, Wicked, is my shower-song, I love being creative, cultural stuff interests me and I once saw the recording of Phantom of the Opera from Royal Albert Hall thrice in a week. I try to stay as positive as possible and oh, 'poop' might be my favorite English word whilst I hate getting called 'ginger'.

Hopefully this post gave you a better picture of who I am... and if not, let's see if I can do it better next week!
